Cold Black World

by HUSBAND

1.
Do you trust what I say to you? Does it mean what I want it to? Can I take away all your doubt, Is there a way I can burn this out of you... Do you need some sort of spectacle? Or just a simple proclaim? Or some amalgam of both, Like whispers found in flames that fly... Why are we afraid, why do people change, What the hell is love and why are we alive? Just to get to you, I'll set a bush ablaze, I'm not Jesus Christ, how can you believe in me anyway? I'll memorize you like good scripture Send up praises to your holy name Hold you close and scream, "Hallelujah!" I'd set my own self on fire for you And burn the city down. Burn all the monuments to the ground. Turn the sky orange the ground grey. Paint this whole World all in flames... Now do you see what you made me become? I left home, burned all my bridges down. I stand atop a Cold Black World, all alone. Nothing but these ashes in my hands Where are you at, are you safe? Who are you with, do you like his face? Does he have matches, does he have flint, Does he have the will to love, and forget it ever happened?

Poltergeist 03:39
The walls are dragging ground, such a small house for all this ruckus. No sleep tonight, or any other time, unless you shake me 'til I pass out. Flap the doors, wreck my home, throw your worst and punch my mouth. Walking on glass again on my own kitchen floor, I don't think you should stay here, anymore. You, poltergeist! Why can't you go back where you came from? Follow the light, it's what they always say, if you don't know the way... (Yeah, yeah) What was it you couldn't say with your life that you could scream in the dark? Re-arrange the room despite the fact (I like the way, I like the way) I've ordered my little life. Soaking up blood from my feet as I drain my eyes in the sink. It's Friday, it's Monday, it's Halloween, it's Christmas Day. You, poltergeist! Why can't you go back where you came from? Follow the light, it's what they always say, if you don't know the way... (Yeah, yeah) (What was it you couldn't say with your life that you could scream in the dark?)

about

What happens when we die?

What if places like "Heaven" and "Hell" were just long projections that take place within the split seconds of crossing over but, to us, last forever as a either a peaceful dream or a terrible nightmare?

HUSBAND's debut full-length, "Cold Black World" explores just that idea and chooses the path of the second option; a nightmare of infinite oblivion. With piano arrangements both beautiful and haunting composed by Charleston-based songwriter Justin Brewer-Golightly, along with other intriguing instrumentation performed by a troupe of talented South Carolina musicians on the wave of a Post-Modern movement, HUSBAND aims to take you into their bad dream and conjure up feelings you once had but long forgot.
